Golden Sedayu’s Burswood Point team was proud to put pedal to the metal in Variety’s Spin 4 Kids last Friday, supporting Variety Children’s Charity WA to raise vital funds for children across Australia who are sick, disadvantaged, or living with disability.
Our team of five Golden Spinners, including Managing Director Andrew Sugiaputra, swapped the building site for spin bikes on Friday 9 October, joining businesses from across the state for a five-hour cycling challenge at Central Park in the Perth CBD.
The event brought together corporate teams and community supporters to raise funds towards a Variety Sunshine Coach, helping children living with disability, illness or disadvantage access education, therapy and community activities.
For Golden Sedayu, the event was an opportunity to put its commitment to community into action, extending the company’s focus beyond the homes, public spaces and amenities it is creating at Burswood Point.
Golden Sedayu Managing Director Andrew Sugiaputra said the team’s participation reflected the company’s belief that creating a thriving community comes with a responsibility to support the people who live within it.
“At Golden Sedayu, we’re passionate about building a vibrant community at Burswood Point, but we know our commitment extends well beyond the homes and amenities we deliver. Events like Spin 4 Kids are a great reminder of what can be achieved when businesses and their people come together with a shared purpose – supporting children and families who need it most.”
Golden Sedayu is delivering one of Perth’s most significant urban transformation projects, turning a 38-hectare site on the Burswood Peninsula into a major new riverside community with homes, public open spaces, recreational facilities and access to 2.5 kilometres of Swan River foreshore.
While the scale of the development is substantial, Mr Sugiaputra said the company’s commitment to community was equally important.
“Community is about more than the places we build; it’s also about how we show up for the people around us. Spin 4 Kids gave the Golden Sedayu team the opportunity to step outside of our work delivering Burswood Point, to get involved and make a meaningful contribution to a cause that supports children across Australia.”
Variety WA CEO Chris Chatterton welcomed Golden Sedayu’s involvement, highlighting the important role businesses play in helping the charity reach more children and families across Western Australia.
“It’s fantastic to see a business like Golden Sedayu, which is helping shape the future of Perth, also making time to invest in the future of our children.
“When businesses bring their teams together behind a cause like Spin 4 Kids, they’re doing much more than fundraising. They’re helping create opportunities for children who face significant barriers to participating in everyday life.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Andrew and the Golden Sedayu team for getting behind our inaugural event and helping us make a real difference for WA children.”
Funds raised through Spin 4 Kids will contribute towards a Variety Sunshine Coach, a specially equipped vehicle that helps schools and community organisations provide safe and accessible transport for children who may otherwise miss out on important experiences.
For many children living with disability, transport remains a significant barrier to inclusion. A Sunshine Coach can open the door to school excursions, sporting activities, therapy appointments and opportunities to connect with friends and their wider community.
The inaugural Spin 4 Kids event is part of Variety WA’s ongoing efforts to engage Western Australian businesses in practical, meaningful ways to support children who need it most.
We’re proud to play our part and look forward to getting back on the bikes next year to challenge for the King and Queen of Spin titles!
